All of these need Firefox + Greasemonkey to work.

Gmail Integration

Google Reader + Gmail Integrator
This [tag]greasemonkey script[/tag] integrates [tag]Google Reader[/tag] with Gmail, saving you one extra tab. One of the best greasemonkey scripts available for Google Reader. An improved version of the script is here.

Google Reader Folders on Gmail
This script adds a little box on your Gmail page that lists the folders on Google Reader and also the number of unread items. Screenshot on Gmail:

Google Reader Search

Google Reader Custom Search
Google Reader doesn’t have a search capability feature by default. This script adds a custom search feature to Google Reader. Here’s a guide on how you can set this up.

Unread Items Checker
This script displays the number of unread items in Google Reader on the right bottom of the browser.

Interface Enhancements

Google Reader Original Item Preview
Replaces Google’s Item summary with the actual blog item. A very cool script. Screenshot of the Digg feed on Google Reader after activating this script:

Original Items

OS X Skin
This script gives a complete Mac OS X look to Google Reader. It was derived from John Hicks’ workaround.

Colourful List View
Colourizes the item headers in your Google Reader. If you use folder-wise view, this will be helpful. Screenshot:

Google Reader Wide View
Use this script to hide the Header (that includes the logo and the navigation links on top right).

Fixes

Code Reader: Bigger Code Snippets
You might have noticed that code snippets look too small in Google Reader. This script make the size of code blocks bigger.

Flickr2Big
This script scales up the size of Flickr images displayed in Flickr feeds on Google Reader.

Auto Add to Google Reader
You can bypass the page that asks you whether you want to add the feed to ‘Personalized Homepage’ (iGoogle) or Google Reader when you click on a feed. Directly takes you to Google Reader, so that you can subscribe.

Other Functional Enhancements

Read by Mouse
This greasemonkey script allows you to navigate items on Google Reader with mouse gestures. For example, when you left click on any empty space in Google Reader, it takes you to the next feed item on the list, while right clicking an empty area leads to the previous one. You can set it to star or share an item if you press the middle button on your mouse. To toggle mouse mode on / off use CTRL+Z

Google Reader Functional Links
Associate Google Reader quick links with keys for faster navigation

Google Reader Slideshow
Scrolls through the items in Google Reader automatically in specific time intervals.

Google Reader All Starred Items
If you’ve starred a huge number of articles on Google Reader, this script allows you to download the post permalinks to all starred items in a single click.

Bookmarks Integration

Google Reader + Google Bookmarks
This script seamlessly integrates and lets you bookmark interesting items to Google’s Bookmarking service via Reader.

Google Reader + Del.icio.us
Allows you to bookmark items from Google Reader to Del.icio.us easily. Another such script is here.

Google Reader + Simpy
Integrates the Simpy bookmarking feature with Google Reader so that you can bookmark interesting items from within Google Reader itself.

Facebook Notifications
Displays Facebook notifications on Google Reader and also Gmail

  6. Hey, I liked this post. I have also installed that script which shows the posts in GMail. It would have been great if any script would allow me to add a feed directly to a specified folder in Google Reader :)

    Anyway, comprehensive list!!

I don’t know any such scripts that help you add a feed directly to a folder, but if I come to know of any, I’ll let you know :)
