I liked blogger for the only fact that it allowed to edit themes, which is sadly missing in wordpress.com And as Shankar mentioned, hosted wordpress is the best way out if you can afford it. I too had done a comparison of both long time back. :-) WordPress.com is good in many ways like commenting section and overall interface.
