Every so often, you get to see this dialog in Firefox asking you whether you want it to remember your login password for a particular site or not:

Firefox Remember Password Dialog

This may annoy you, and here’s how you can disable it:

  • Navigate to Tools >> Options in the menu bar
  • Under Security, uncheck the option Remember passwords for sites
  • Click Ok and move out

The dialog will never come back again.

  2. Yes, Nirmal, I’m experimenting, hope this will be the final change :)

  3. hi,

I have done the above and rebooted.
STILL, I see the “authentication required” modal popup.I do not want firefox to do anything with my passwords.I have the latest version. Why does this happen?

    passwords section:
“remember passprds for this site” unchecked.
    “use a master password” unchecked.

There are no passwords in the password manager section

Please tell me how to remove this.

    many thanks,

    yogi

  4. But why would you want to disable this. As I said in other comment that using some undocumented system for password will do the trick for almost any purpose.

  5. @WordPress Advice: I found the dialog annoying (pops up.. ahh), so I disabled it.. and thought of sharing the tip with others. That’s it.

  6. hiya,
