Two alternatives to Adobe PDF Reader
AdvertisementsMost of you use Adobe Reader for reading PDF documents on your PC. But it’s a PC slowmaker. Earlier my PC used to crash whenever I used to open a huge PDF document on Adobe reader. Why not you try some alternatives to Adobe Reader?

Foxit Reader (Download Link)
Foxit Reader is the best available alternative to Adobe Reader. It’s extremely slick, less hungry on system resources and has features comparable to Adobe PDF Reader. Here’s its features list:
- Instant Loading: No annoying splashes, loads very quickly
- Annotation tool that helps you to add notes to parts of a PDF Document
- Fill forms easily on your PDF from your PC
- Multi-language support
- Printing feature enhanced in latest version
- Text converter: Convert an entire PDF File to text format
- Latest version has Javascript support
- Download size just around 1.5 MB!
- Portable version is available

Sumatra PDF Viewer (Download Link)
This is another minimalistic tool that helps you view PDF files without any hassles. It’s just a stand alone EXE file: that means you can carry it around on your portable device. It’s also open source.
- It’s a simple tool, and has only the very essential features.
- Zooming, and a bit of shortcuts for navigation
That’s Sumatra. Get it here.

Thanks Shankar, I was searching for something similar, new Adobe Reader 8 is way too large for only a PDF reader.
We have Google Docs to create PDF and zamzar.com to convert any other document to PDF.
Though I will test both, I am more inclined already towards Sumatra, hearing the word Open Source.
I use Foxit and absolutely love it, Its a huge memory saver and works better than the Adobe reader.
BTW I noticed you got a new header
You’re welcome, Titun.
Techie Buzz: Yes, experimenting with themes
I have used Foxit before but i will try other one .
i personally feel Foxit reader is best whereas a typical installation of adobe photoshop will occupy 150 mb compared to foxit which is just 4 mb and loads up really fast…. So for a minimal PDF reader please go for Foxit… its best of all… thanks shankar ganesh for letting know everybody about the best…
Yes, it’s the best of all. You’re welcome, SankarAnand.
Foxit rocks!
It seems Foxit is everyone’s favourite!
Thanks for sharing your opinions, everyone!
O have used Foxit for almost an year, but Sumatra is even more minimalist, just as I like, besides, is open source.
The lack of hotkeys I fix with Autohotkey.
And to remove the Foxit banner I must carry a reg file, most lans just block it.
I am switching to Sumatra.
