If you urgently have to send a large file to your friend, in disks, but couldn’t because the file is too big to fit in one disk? How about splitting the file into pieces and then re uniting them back in the recipient’s computer? GSplit is the way to go.

GSplit can split files into multiple pieces, which you can carry in disks. Later when you want to reunite them, just launch the executable file that comes with the pieces – they get merged into one single file. The main advantage is that the recipient does not require the GSplit program to merge the splitted pieces.

Here’s a quick guide on how to split all kinds of files – audio files (wav, mp3s), videos (avi, etc.) and all other file documents using GSplit program:

Procedure to split files

• Download GSplit from here, install and launch the program
• In the GSplit window that opens, click Browse and select the big file that you want to split and then click Open. GSplit also supports batch splitting of files, so if you want to split multiple files at once, use the Several Files Option.
• Click the Destination Folder link from the left panel and choose the path where you want to save the splitted files to
• Click on the Split File option in the left panel. Set the priority options, and then press Split

Additional Options

• You can tell GSplit to automatically choose piece sizes based on the space available on your disk (Spanned Pieces). Or else, you can use the Block Pieces option to set a specific size for each piece that gets splitted
• You can use the File Names option in the sidebar to set the convention for naming the pieces
• When the files get reunited, it’s possible to display a welcome message to the user. This can be determined using the Welcome message option

Combining the splitted pieces

Combining splitted files is a piece of cake if you had used GSplit.

• Go to the directory where you put the splitted pieces into
• Click on disk1.exe that has a folder like icon on it
• Specify the directory where you want to restore the large file
• All done
