You’ve seen Pidgin, Trillian, Miranda IM and more. But here’s one more - but a bit different - it’s AirTalkr, and like rest others it’s a multiprotocol instant messaging client, and is based on Adobe AIR platform - but there’s more to it, than just a messenger.

AirTalkr Multi-protocol Instant Messenger

AirTalkr has got all the features that an IM client should have: it can connect to many protocols that include MSN, Jabber, Yahoo!, ICQ, Google Talk, AIM and more. But AirTalkr also has features that most IM Clients do not have. In fact, it’s a kind of a desktop web 2.0 networking tool.

Supporting various other services that include Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, MySpace and Friendster - you can follow your friends online activities across all these services with AirTalkr installed.

Every AirTalkr user has a so called AirCard that has all the information (social networking profiles, etc.) about him/her loaded onto it. That includes information from many online services. Your buddies can access your AirCards, and so can you. Searching for Flickr Photos and YouTube videos is also possible, from inside AirTalkr.

AirTalkr requires the AIR runtime to run. Once you’ve downloaded that from here, you can install AirTalkr from here. If you just want to test things out, there’s also a web version of AirTalkr available for your use. AirTalkr is compatible with Windows and Mac.

  8. I’m not sure, if I’m the only one, but I kinda hate these apps based on AIR. I mean… come on! AIR is required only for those situations where interaction between web and locally stored files are required. I’ll stick with Pidgin. Thanks for the share
